French police moved in 24 October to dismantle and evacuate the Jungle camp, Calais, where more than 6,000 refugees and migrants had set up temporary shelters.
On the first day of the operation some 2300 people were screened at a gigantic hangar set up by French authorities to register Calais migrants, including 1918 adults who were sent on to reception centres (CAO) all over France.
Screenings continued over the following days with particular anxiety expressed by MSF about the lack of adequate planning and provision for unaccompanied children.
After clashes between the police and people resisting the forced move some building were set on fire, ripping through the flimsy shelters, as smoke rose over the site.
