Honduras: MSF responds to new epidemic of dengue fever
Following a prolonged rainy season, Honduras is seeing a sharp increase in cases of dengue fever. To help bring the epidemic under control, MSF is supporting the Mario Catarino Hospital in San Pedro Sula at a Dengue pediatric ward, specially opened in response to the epidemic by providing pediatricians, nurses, drugs and medical equipment for patients with severe dengue.
Since many of the cases treated come from the Choloma area, MSF also started supporting the Choloma Municipality and the Honduras Ministry of Health to run vector control activities in two sectors of the Municipality, in order to contain the spread of the epidemic in this area.
